Supercell Hires for Film and TV: Clash of Clans Movie in the Works?

by Isabella Apr 27,2025

Could Clash of Clans, or another major Supercell property, be making its way to the big screen? It's more likely than you might think. The Finnish mobile game developer has recently started the search for a senior film and TV development executive, signaling a potential move towards cinematic adaptations, much like Rovio did with Angry Birds back in 2016.

While the job description doesn't suggest an immediate start to film production, it does call for the development of a strategy encompassing live-action and animated films, as well as theatrical and streaming distribution. In business terms, this indicates a more strategic, watch-and-wait approach. However, it's reasonable to assume that Supercell might already be sketching out initial plans for such ventures.

Clash for the agesSupercell has been pushing boundaries with its catalog, notably through crossovers and collaborations, such as their partnership with WWE. This trend suggests that expanding into film and animation could be a natural next step for the developer.

Despite the time that has elapsed since Clash of Clans was first released, it's worth remembering that the highly successful Angry Birds movie came out seven years after the original game. Clash of Clans still boasts a significant audience, and Supercell has newer IPs like Mo.co that could be appealing for a more family-oriented movie.
