Assassin's Creed Games Ranked: A Tier List

by Aurora Apr 25,2025

The latest installment in Ubisoft's renowned stealth-action series, Assassin's Creed Shadows, has arrived, sparking discussions about its place among the franchise's storied history. With over 30 games under the Assassin's Creed banner, we're focusing on the mainline entries, excluding mobile, side-scrolling, VR, and spin-offs like Bloodlines or Liberation.

The journey began in 2007 with Desmond Miles entering the Animus to relive the life of his ancestor, Altaïr. Fast forward to 2025, and we find ourselves in 16th-century Japan, controlling the dual protagonists Naoe and Yasuke. Assassin's Creed Shadows marks the 14th entry in the core series. Here's a personal tier list, reflecting my enjoyment of each game:

Simon Cardy's Assassin's Creed Tier List

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remains my top favorite, blending island exploration, ship combat, and a vibrant cast for an unparalleled AC experience. It shares the S-tier with Assassin’s Creed 2, which propelled the series to fame. In the A-tier, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla stands out due to its engaging Viking combat and the addictive Orlog minigame, joined by Assassin’s Creed Unity, whose depiction of French Revolution-era Paris continues to impress.

Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you find Valhalla too expansive or consider Assassin’s Creed 2 overrated? You can create your own tier list below, comparing your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the IGN community.
