Get ready for an enhanced adventure with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, set to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5. This edition not only includes the acclaimed original game but also comes with upgraded enhancements tailored for the Nintendo Switch 2. Plus, you'll gain access to Zelda Notes through the Nintendo Switch app, adding a new layer of interaction to your gameplay. Preorders are now open, and you can find it at Target for a closer look.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
Priced at $79.99, this edition is a bit steeper than typical video game prices due to Nintendo's new pricing strategy for Switch 2 games. The original game already set a higher price point at $69.99, and with the Switch 2 enhancements, an additional $10 has been added. While the price increase isn't my favorite part, the enhanced experience might just be worth it.
Upgrade Pack Is Also Available Separately
If you're already a fan and own the original Switch version of Tears of the Kingdom, you can upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition for just $10. This separate upgrade pack allows you to enjoy the enhanced features without repurchasing the entire game.
Upgrade Pack Is Free with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack
For those who are members of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack and own the original game, the upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition comes at no extra cost. It's included in your subscription, making it a great perk for members.
What is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?
This edition packs the full original Switch game along with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. Expect improved performance, including faster frame rates, quicker load times, enhanced resolution, and better textures. The game will look and run better on the Nintendo Switch 2 than ever before on the original Switch.
From our original 10/10 review of Tears of the Kingdom: “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an unfathomable follow-up to one of the greatest games ever made, somehow improving upon it in nearly every way – be that with simple quality-of-life improvements, a genuinely exciting story, or wildly creative new building mechanics that make you rethink what is possible. It both revamps old ground and introduces vast new areas so immense it somehow makes me wonder if Breath of the Wild was actually all that big, with an almost alarming number of tasks to complete, mysteries to discover, and delightful distractions to keep you from ever reaching that place you naively thought you were headed. Nintendo has followed up a triumph with a triumph, expanding and evolving a world that already felt full beyond expectation and raising the bar ever higher into the clouds.”
