Following the excitement of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Koei Tecmo has released another thrilling addition to the musou genre with Warriors: Abyss, a new roguelite game that hit the shelves today. Featuring iconic characters from the Warriors series, this game promises a fresh twist on the beloved formula.

Showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, Warriors: Abyss allows players to assemble a squad of heroes to battle through endless hordes of enemies. The game adopts an isometric camera perspective, drawing inspiration from games like Diablo and the critically acclaimed roguelite, Hades.

In Warriors: Abyss, players will navigate through the depths of "hell," facing off against demonic foes. Today's footage highlighted familiar faces from the Warriors universe, including Zhou Yu, Nobunaga Oda, and Sunshang Xiang, as they fight to conquer the underworld.

According to the PlayStation Blog, players can recruit and add characters to their team over time, unlocking additional summoning abilities. Up to seven heroes can be actively used in battle, and at launch, a roster of 100 warriors will be available for players to choose from.

Koei Tecmo has plans to expand the character lineup post-launch, starting with additions from the Jin kingdom in Dynasty Warriors. The developer hinted at further waves of characters, including potential crossovers from outside the Warriors series.

Warriors: Abyss is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It will also be coming to Nintendo Switch on February 13, 2025. Gamers looking to snag the exclusive in-game Dynasty Warriors Costume Set should purchase the game before the deadline on March 14, 2025.
