"World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Release"
Summary
- The Plunderstorm event in WoW has been delayed due to unexpected issues.
- No new estimated launch time has been revealed.
- Players can complete other activities in WoW while waiting for Plunderstorm.
World of Warcraft fans eagerly anticipating the return of the Plunderstorm event will have to wait a bit longer due to unforeseen complications. Originally scheduled to relaunch on January 14, 2025, the pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during Dragonflight has hit a snag. The event's maintenance period, initially set for six hours, was extended to eight, with servers expected to be back online by 3 PM PST. However, according to a statement from WoW community manager Kaivax, "unexpected issues" have further delayed Plunderstorm's launch. While the team at World of Warcraft aims to have the event up and running before the end of January 14, no specific new launch time has been provided.
When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?
- Before the end of January 14, after "unexpected issues" are resolved
In the meantime, regular WoW servers are back online, allowing players to dive into other engaging activities. Whether it's tackling the Siren Isle weeklies, embarking on the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or exploring other facets of The War Within, there's plenty to keep adventurers busy while they await Plunderstorm's return.
The second iteration of Plunderstorm promises new additions like the Plunderstore and an accessible game event interface. It's speculated that these new features might be behind the unexpected issues. World of Warcraft's team is working diligently to resolve these problems, ensuring fans can soon resume their plundering adventures.
Despite the delay, the excitement around Plunderstorm hasn't waned. The new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are currently available, offering players a chance to earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft stream on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST. Importantly, the streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to progress towards this reward, allowing fans to enjoy other WoW content while they wait for the game mode to relaunch.
