Starfield PS5 Release Rumors Swirl After PlayStation Logo Sighting

Speculation about Starfield coming to PlayStation 5 intensified over the weekend when fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, which has since been removed. Despite the removal, fans are buzzing with excitement about the possibility of Bethesda's sci-fi game, which has been exclusive to PC and Xbox, making its way to the PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

The discovery has sparked discussions about potential major content updates or even a new expansion to coincide with Starfield's possible PS5 release. Following the lukewarm reception of the Shattered Space expansion, Bethesda has remained relatively quiet about Starfield. However, anticipation is building with Microsoft's expected summer showcase, which could provide more details about the game's future.

Bethesda has hinted at "exciting things" planned for Starfield this year, amidst growing player frustration over a lack of communication and updates. In a June 2024 interview with YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard reaffirmed their commitment to Starfield, promising at least one more story expansion after Shattered Space and aiming for annual story expansions for the foreseeable future.

Starfield launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first single-player game since Microsoft's acquisition of parent company ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's review of Starfield gave it a 7/10, praising its expansive roleplaying quests and solid combat mechanics despite various challenges.

In January, Microsoft's gaming chief, Phil Spencer, did not rule out a PS5 release for Starfield. Reports from March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were considered for the PS5. While Indiana Jones has been confirmed for a spring 2025 release on PS5 following its debut on PC and Xbox, Starfield remains unconfirmed, though Spencer's comments hinted at its potential arrival on the platform.

Several Xbox titles are already available on the PS5, including Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Forza Horizon 5 is also slated for a PS5 release, and there are even whispers that Halo might break its long-standing Xbox exclusivity.

Spencer has explained that Xbox's multiplatform strategy aims to increase revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially after the monumental $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In an August statement, Spencer emphasized the business aspect of their operations and the high expectations Microsoft has for them, reinforcing the need to strengthen their games across various platforms, including console, PC, and cloud.
