The recently released Ratatan gameplay trailer, showcased during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, provides an exciting sneak peek into the game's mechanics. Developed by Ratatan Works, the trailer features a thrilling battle against a giant boss crab, highlighting the game’s rhythm roguelike action elements that seamlessly blend rhythm gameplay with side-scrolling action.

Ratatan promises an engaging experience with online co-op gameplay that supports up to four players. The game allows players to command up to 100 characters in a massive melee battle, ensuring a dynamic and immersive gaming experience.

Led by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and featuring the original Patapon musician Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan has already made significant strides. Its successful Kickstarter campaign in 2023 surpassed its console launch stretch goal, securing its release across multiple platforms.

Closed Beta Scheduled for February 27, 2025

According to a recent update on the Ratatan Kickstarter page, the game's closed beta is set to kick off on February 27, 2025. Ratatan Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared insights into the upcoming milestones and events.

The game has now surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. However, it will not be featured at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, as the development team is prioritizing the closed beta test. The team aims to deliver an enhanced demo version for the Steam Next Festival scheduled for June.

Sakajiri outlined what players can expect during the closed beta. The initial build will include gameplay up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 to be added progressively throughout the month-long test period. Details about the distribution of codes, the start date, and time will be communicated via Discord and X as soon as they are finalized.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date has yet to be announced, anticipation continues to build for this exciting new title.
