A Knight of Decay: Xbox Brings Avowed’s Plague to London

A colossal statue of a decaying knight, its armor ravaged by time and adorned with unsettling, realistic mushrooms, has materialized in London. This striking display, crafted by Xbox, serves as both a captivating artwork and a chilling premonition of the plague sweeping across the world of Avowed. The installation, complemented by nearby Xbox Series X|S game posters, transforms a commonplace street into a captivating gateway to Avowed's ominous realm.

Xbox has unveiled a behind-the-scenes YouTube video, providing fans with an intimate glimpse into the creation of this unique promotional spectacle.

Meanwhile, Avowed has garnered significant acclaim from Steam users. A remarkable 81% of Deluxe Edition players offered positive recommendations prior to launch, generating considerable anticipation for today's Standard Edition release.

Industry veteran Jason Schreier shared his enthusiastic appraisal of Avowed, highlighting its exceptional world design, compelling narrative, and engaging combat system – but particularly its immersive exploration:

"Avowed has completely captivated me. Obsidian's storytelling and combat mechanics were predictably impressive, but the world design truly excels. Every path leads to discovery, every rooftop is accessible, and hidden details abound. Even after 40 hours of gameplay, I remain enthralled."

Schreier also acknowledged a disparity between critical reception and player response, drawing parallels to Fallout: New Vegas:

"Some reviews have surprised me. It mirrors the Fallout: New Vegas situation – critics were divided, yet players elevated it to legendary status. Avowed might follow a similar trajectory."

Fallout: New Vegas, despite an initial Metacritic score of 83, ultimately achieved iconic RPG status. Could Avowed be destined for a comparable ascent to RPG greatness?
