Dragon Quest X Mobile Launch Exclusive to Japan

by Christopher Apr 23,2025

Dragon Quest fans, rejoice! The much-anticipated Dragon Quest X, known for its MMORPG-like elements, is making its way to mobile devices in Japan. Starting tomorrow, Japanese fans can dive into the offline version of Dragon Quest X on iOS and Android, offering a single-player experience for a premium price. This release marks a significant moment for the series, especially considering the offline version's debut on consoles and PC back in 2022, years after the original's launch in 2012.

As reported by Gematsu, this mobile version of Dragon Quest X Offline brings the unique real-time combat and other MMORPG features that set it apart from other entries in the series. It's a nostalgic nod to the past, too, reminding us of Ubitu's unfulfilled promise to bring Dragon Quest X to mobile back in 2013.

ytHere be dragons

Unfortunately, fans outside Japan might need to temper their excitement. While a global release isn't entirely off the table, there's currently little to no news about an international rollout. The original Dragon Quest X was exclusive to Japan, and the same pattern seems to be following with the offline mobile version.

As a dedicated Dragon Quest enthusiast who spent countless hours on Sentinels of the Starry Sky, I'm eager to explore this different take on the series on mobile. It's a missed opportunity for those of us outside Japan, but the hope for future releases remains.
