Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 with Cheerful Video Marking 10M RE4 Players

Capcom has subtly hinted at Resident Evil 9 in their latest celebratory video, cleverly hidden in plain sight.

To commemorate reaching an impressive 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team shared a short video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong conversing with a notorious villain, then shifts to Leon surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats, humorously making their way to the church.

The scene then transitions to a rock song, with Dr Salvador amusingly strumming his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, and the camera pans to show Leon energetically fist-pumping. In the background, a rustic sign reads "Thank you for playing."

Interestingly, when you rotate the sign on its side, the planks form the Roman numeral "IX," signifying the number 9. While this could be a mere coincidence, as noted by horror game leaker Dusk Golem, the absence of the lower plank on the sign in earlier parts of the video suggests it was deliberately added.

"I know what you did here," said one surprised fan, accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.

"It was really challenging to decide what to do after Resident Evil 7," Nakanishi said at the time. "But I've found the right path, and it feels significant. I can't reveal any specifics yet, but I hope you're eager for when I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the game might be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
