Bandai Namco to End PAC-MAN Mobile Service

Bandai Namco has announced the unfortunate shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, which is bittersweet news as the legendary icon celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. This beloved version of the game, which launched over a decade ago, will no longer be available to players.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued as of April 1st, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final day. If you're still a fan, you have until May 30th to savor your last moments with the game.

The community has voiced significant disappointment over Bandai Namco's decision to completely shut down the game rather than offering an offline version. Many believe that an offline option would have been well-received and could have continued generating revenue.

PAC-MAN Mobile, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. It included the iconic 8-bit arcade mode alongside a Story Mode featuring numerous original mazes. The Adventure Mode added excitement with limited-time themed events, allowing players to unlock exclusive skins. Additionally, the Tournament Mode featured weekly maze challenges with three difficulty levels, and the game offered a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, ghosts, and even the joystick.

The Reason

The decision to shut down the game likely stems from ongoing issues that have plagued PAC-MAN Mobile in recent years. Accumulating bugs and technical problems have probably contributed significantly to this decision.

I fondly recall the excitement during the game's initial launch on Android, where players were passionately grinding for high scores and competing on leaderboards. Those were fun times indeed.

If you wish to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
