How to Complete All Arata Stages in GHOUL://RE

After numerous trials and errors, we've successfully navigated all three Arata stages in GHOUL://RE. These stages aren't overly challenging in terms of gaming skill, and there's minimal exploration involved, but they do require extensive Reputation grinding. And when we say extensive, we mean it!

Arata Stage 1 in GHOUL://RE

To kick things off, you need to amass 25,000 Reputation points and reach the maximum rank of Special Investigator within the C.C.G. organization. Head to the Commission of Counter Ghoul (C.C.G. center) and locate the NPC with headphones, Damiro D. Mado, on the second floor. He will assign you the Arata Stage 1 quest, which involves collecting 10 one-eyed fragments and 10 Kokuja fragments.

The quickest way to obtain these fragments is by defeating bosses like Eto and Tatara, shown below, and then crafting them at a workstation. To check your Reputation, speak with the NPC in a black suit and tie, Saiyo Natsuki, who will provide you with the current number. Once you've gathered all 20 fragments, convert them into five one-eyed Kokuja fragments at the workstation. If you struggle with bosses, consult our GHOUL://RE Boss and Raid guide to enhance your skills.

Return to Damiro, who will instruct you to speak with "him". This directive caused confusion within the GHOUL://RE community, as nobody initially knew who "he" was. It turns out "he" was none other than Black Reaper of Doom And Despair, hiding in plain sight.

For assistance in locating NPCs, refer to our guide on all NPC locations in GHOUL://RE to streamline your search.

Arata Stage 2 in GHOUL://RE

To progress to Arata stages 2 and 3, you must switch to permadeath (PD) mode to acquire the legendary armor. We recommend teaming up with reliable and strong companions, as solo missions can be quite challenging.

Once you've accumulated 100,000 Reputation points, head to the elevator in the C.C.G. building and descend to the Laboratory. There, find the man with the scalpel in a black suit standing next to the door, Black Reaper of Doom And Despair.

Hand over five one-eyed Kokuja fragments and verify your 100,000 Reputation to complete Stage two of acquiring the Arata-Proto armor. There have been numerous online discussions about the necessary Reputation amount, with some suggesting 75,000 and others between 90,000 and 100,000. From our experience, to ensure success, you need 100,000 Reputation points.

As previously mentioned, you must play the second and third Arata stages in GHOUL://RE on PD servers only. Failure to do so will result in a repeated response from the Black Reaper, preventing you from completing Arata Stage 2 and accessing Arata Stage 3.

The final Arata Stage involves "The Scalpel Guy", specific fragments, and a substantial amount of cash. Like the second stage, you must remain in PD mode to continue your quest for the epic armor.

Once you've obtained a single one-eyed Kakuja fragment and amassed 500,000 Yen, revisit Black Reaper of Doom And Despair in the C.C.G. building. Upon payment, he will teleport you to face the Kishou Arima boss.

Defeating this boss requires at least average gaming skills, involving a lot of jumping, dodging, blocking, and dealing significant damage from above. Kishou Arima is challenging but not unbeatable, and with practice, even moderate players can triumph.

Be prepared to face multiple deaths during this encounter, and ensure you have ample resources. Each attempt at repeating the boss fight requires an additional one-eyed Kakuja fragment and another 500,000 Yen.

Upon defeating Kishou Arima, you'll unlock Stage 3 Arata-Proto armor. However, be cautious; while Arata armor offers powerful buffs and protection, it can be detrimental to your character's body, as detailed below.

Arata Armor Tips & Tricks

Arata-Proto Armor Buffs

The Arata armor is exceptionally powerful, but it comes with a significant drawback: it drains your hunger at a rapid rate while worn. You also can't eat while wearing Arata in any stage, so you'll need to remove the armor to replenish your hunger levels.

Despite these challenges, the armor's benefits are substantial. Notably, you can't be ragdolled while wearing Arata, which is a major advantage in all game scenarios.

Additionally, Arata provides an equipment buff, making your character increasingly "tanky" and capable of both sustaining and dealing immense damage. If the armor depletes your hunger bar during combat, it will begin to consume your health bar. Be especially cautious during boss fights, as you can always take off the armor if it becomes too dangerous and heal up.

Reputation Grinding

The fastest way to gain the required Reputation is to fight bosses in PD mode. While it's risky, each boss defeated in PD mode grants you 1,500 Reputation, significantly more than the 500 you receive outside PD. Unfortunately, killing Ghouls only yields 100 Reputation points per kill, making them a less efficient option during Arata quests.
